The Daily life of an American citizen not involved in the military during the early 1940's would be filled with a change from their old ways of frivolous spending. because of Rationing for wartime goods, the average person would find him/herself using their points book for goods to be used at home. Sugar would be a rarity to find because it was a popular item that was not imported as greatly to cut back costs. The radio would be booming with new music because all of the unavailable activities that were once known commonly to all Americans would not be available and boredom would lead to invention of new, less costly activities like songwriting and story writing. Reading would also spring up for an American in the early 40's because not only was it free, but it was interesting. the average person would have to cut back on use of raw materials because of militarization of the U.S's forces and their use in the battlefield. families would not take as many trips, trying to save fuel for the troops and they would find more things to do at home or within a local community. many communities made gardens to support food shortages of certain fruits or vegetables, food from this garden may have also been sent to help feed the soldiers across the world. Home life and everyday life changed greatly into a more frugal, conservative lifestyle for the average civillian in the 1940's
